Liberal activists are stepping up their campaign against Fox News Channel by pressuring advertisers not to patronize the network.MoveOn.org, the Campaign for America's Future and liberal blogs like DailyKos.com are asking thousands of supporters to monitor who is advertising on the network, which is owned by Rupert Murdoch's News Corp.Once a database is gathered, an organized phone-calling campaign will begin, said Jim Gilliam, vice president of media strategy for Brave New Films, a company that has made anti-Fox videos. The groups have successfully pressured Democratic presidential candidates not to appear at any debate sponsored by Fox, and are also trying to get Home Depot Inc. to stop advertising there. At least 5,000 people across the U.S. have signed up to compile logs on who is running commercials on Fox, Gilliam said. The groups want to first concentrate on businesses running local ads, as opposed to national commercials.

Two things - I laughed when I read in this FOX News article that FOX News wasn't available to comment.

What is the deal? FOX is the only channel on network or cable (and outside of talk radio, one of a few) that doesn't lean to the left. It provides a tiny slice of the overall media pie and compared to the rest combined, it's viewership is minute. It's hard new mirrors the others by probably 80% - the rest is different because Fox does cover some stories that the others don't and the others carry some stories that Fox doesn't. And it's coverage is as fair as anybody else. Sure, they have about a half-a-dozen editorial shows that have right leaning hosts. And those shows typically have left-leaning guests, people who aren't as reliant on groupthink (like John Edwards) and seek the calm of consensus - people who actually think their ideas are good enough to defend.

So what gives? Conservatives like me write often about the 'liberal media bias' and the left denies it. People like me point out that the left can't handle competition in the media after having decades of intellectual monopoly. That too is rejected. So then why is it that when conservatives get even just a fraction of the market through am-radio, a handful of newspapers and one cable news station (these coming out of thousands of choices), the left is obsessed with shutting it down. The Fascist Doctrine for conservative radio and moveon.org trying to punish FOX by encouraging or pressuring presidential candidates of all people, and advertisers to boycott or disassociate themselves with FOX.

These people are totalitarian-lites whose views and ideas can't survive through debating them honestly and directly and so they try to silence the few voices of opposition they have. Why? So they can have a news/opinion monopoly on the media. Is there any reason why anyone should be proud of this?

People always tell conservatives that if they dislike someone or something it must be because they 'fear' it. The only explanation that can be made for trying to silence every voice the 'other side' has is fear - fear that their ideas lose when they are challenged so the answer is to eliminate those challenges rather than acknowledge that maybe, just maybe, they simply have bad ideas.

No, Fox is the only cable network that is completely to the right, and obviously the Pravda for the GOP. Not state run, just GOP run.

but have fun defending Fox news. that, and the war on christmas...
